Sleeve Notes

Mwynion Mai was formed in 1989 while Jane and Eluned were attending the Welsh College of Music and Drama, following completion of their respective courses both commenced individual careers as freelance musicians, however that was not the end of Mwynion Mai but a new beginning.

Most early bookings were for social functions such as weddings and dinner dances, but as their reputation grew they also found themselves giving public performances at many venues including the prestigious World Harp Festival.

In 1993 Mwynion Mai promoted their first series of Mwynion Mai recitals at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre, which is On The Waterfront in Cardiff Bay. Many of the recitals have included guest artists such as Meinir Heulyn, Principal harp Welsh National Opera; pianist Dr Andrew Wilson Dickson and flautist Catherine Handley.

Although Mwynion Mai has a very wide repertoire this their debut album has been dedicated to recording some of the many beautifully haunting traditional Welsh melodies, some of which have not been previously recorded.

Mwynion Mai would like to express their thanks to everyone who has made this album possible, especially Taran Studios and Nimbus Manufacturing UK whose assistance was invaluable.

Mwynion Mai can be contacted through their manager, Jane's husband:-
